I trained as a medical laboratory technologist at Regina College and St. Paul's Hospital, Saskatoon and later I earned a Bachelor of Religious Education at Toronto Bible College (1968). I spent fourteen years in South Thailand (Pattani province) as a medical laboratory technologist in a mission-based hospital. Before taking up my duties in the small hospital located in a fishing village I had to spend a year learning the Thai language. After studying Thai, I found languages so interesting that on returning home to Canada in 1984 I began an undergraduate degree in Linguistics and then went on to a postgraduate degree, also in Linguistics. While pursuing my degree I worked part-time at a medical laboratory in Calgary, Alberta. I read many Catholic books and had many discussions with a Catholic friend and then converted from Evangelical Protestanism to Roman Catholicism in 1991.
In 2000 I returned to Thailand, this time to teach English (and later History) to High School students at a Roman Catholic school just outside of Bangkok.
I retired and returned to Canada in 2005 where I now enjoy the West Coast weather and seem busier than ever. I have taught catechism (PREP) to Grade 5 children for four years. I have many writing projects - some more successful than others - but all enjoyable. I especially like researching history. I also enjoy photography and meeting up with old and new friends.
The Cameo: My novel is now available from Amazon.com and CreateSpace eStore. It is also available for Kindle both in the US and UK.. 'The Cameo' is an historical romance that takes place in 19th century England and Italy. A young girl's ideas about love and faith are challenged. See the website: http://thecameo.vpweb.ca
